Greetings Leaf Peepers, one and all, and Reto, Here are some last minute thoughts as I get ready for the 5TH ANNUAL NEDOD Leaf-Peeper-Ride. I have included part of the original announcement below for those of you that have miss placed it AND I have included the route sheet. Be at the start no later than 10AM. Be GASSED up and ready to GO! Know who you plan to ride with. Be READY for some great roads and great time. Lunch will be on the road wherever we can find it (see route sheet) Mt. Equinox TOLL road has a $4-5 toll for bikes, but it is WELL worth the cost for the road and views. I will have maps and route sheets at the start. Weather looks GREAT, should be clear and COLD especially in the evenings. C O M E O N E C O M E M A N Y C O M E A L L T O THE 5TH ANNUAL NEDOD Leaf-Peeper-Ride (NEDODLPR) Saturday October 5, 1996 10:00 AM Starting in Southern Vermont (See Directions Below) For an assault on the BEST roads in Southern Vermont and Washington County, NY by biker scum Detailed Instructions: 1) Mark your calendars for the weekend of Oct 4-6th 2) Line up sitters for your kids, pets, plants, etc. 3) Find a place to stay for the weekend in VT (see below) 3a) Get a bunch of friends and share a room 3b) Get your own room 3c) Plan to camp-out 3d) Plan to Iron-butt it 4) Call your riding friends and form a group of about 5-7 compatible riders 5) Pack your bags, service your bike, etc 6) Make your way to your where ever you are staying Friday night 6) Follow the routes (or equivalents) to the Start Point Be gassed, ready to go and Know who you plan to ride with and Be there 5-10 minutes early!!!! 7) Get safety talk, get route sheet, get ready, go .... 8) Ride all over Southern VT and Washington County, NY on Saturday with your friends 9) Have a post ride party and story telling with your friends 10) Head for home on Sunday Sorry, I got carried away, I have been doing process work flows at work for the last few months, I think I need to go for a nice long ride in VT! :) Start Point Directions: The Start Point is a large parking lot located 2.9 miles north of Rt 30 on Rt 100. Same as last year. There is a large "Hasquavna" sign with a picture of a chain saw and a smaller sign for "Uncle Dave's Kitchen". The parking lot is on the right side of the road as you are headed north on rt 100. >From the Boston Area: rt 2 W, rt 140 N, rt 12 N, rt 119 W into Brattleboro, VT rt 30 W to Rawsonville, 2.9 miles north on Rt 100 >From the south: 1) take any major route into Brattleboro, rt 30 W to Bondville, see map below 2) take VT 100 N, rt 30 W to Rawsonville, 2.9 miles north on Rt 100 >From the north: take any major route to VT 100 S, the market will be on your left south of South Londonderry and 2.9 miles north of Rt 30 /smile/ >From the west: take any major route into Bennington, VT 7 N to Manchester, rt 30 E to Rawsonville, 2.9 miles north on Rt 100 So your coming to the 5th Annual Leaf Peeper and you need a place to stay. Well here is a selected list of Inns that are local to the starting point of our ride. The Inns are listed based on their distance from the start area (first are closer). There are nearly a hundred places to stay in the Manchester area (NO I won't list them all!), and lots of others in nearby towns. If you want more, you can get more information from the Vermont Tourist Bureau at 800-837-6668 or Chamber of Commerce at (802) 362-2100.
